Lemarti's Camp - Profile

General Information

A more serene setting would be hard to imagine. Lemartiís lies quietly in the shade of a great fig tree, nestled on a bank of the gentle Ewaso Nyiro River in Laikipia. This wilderness provides an utterly magical location for the camp, and its peace and purity are reflected within. Our five luxury tents, which accommodate up to 10 adults and 18 children, have been lovingly created to immerse you in this extraordinary patch of Africa. Each tent is en-suite, with hot water prepared over a log fire and brought to you. So from the privacy of your tent you can indulge in the tranquility of a bush shower or linger in your own tin bath under the stars, taking in the fresh, open air while gentle lantern light dances around you. The pleasures are simple, and thatís precisely the point. Our tents exude understated chic through earthy hues, handcrafted furniture and soft textiles. This harmonious style is the perfect complement to the sensory allure surrounding you. From the open deck of your tent, you can see elephants stroll, watch monkeys play, and look on as the gentle rhythm of this hidden Africa plays out before you. And when the night falls, you can slip into your gorgeously comfortable bed with only a mosquito net between you and the great African wild. Allow the soft candlelight, warm breeze and the entrancing whispers of crickets soothe you into slumber.

Additional Information

The 30 000 square kilometers of semi-arid northern Kenya called Laikipia is one of the last relatively undiscovered frontiers of wildest Africa. Majestic landscapes, proud pastoralist nomads and wildlife still live in harmony and the ecosystems are still intact. Laikipia spans from the equator by Mt Kenya, to the edge of the Great Rift Valley at Lake Baringo. It is a malaria free area with an average altitude of 6000 feet. Kikuyu, Turkana, Pokot, Samburu, Maasai, Ndorobo, Jamu and Kalenjin tribes inhabit the area. Many white settlers have made it their home over the last century.
