Hawkes Ocean Technologies designs and builds the world’s only winged submersibles for science, industry, adventure, and film/television. DeepFlight Submersibles – Pioneering Underwater Flight with five generations of positively buoyant, winged submersibles. Introducing DeepFlight Merlin; the fifth generation winged vehicle is a new class of high-performance, positively buoyant “open cockpit” submersible. The first Merlin is being delivered to Richard Branson’s Necker Island, and has been christened the Necker Nymph.

World renowned engineer, Graham Hawkes, created the DeepFlight series of positively buoyant, winged submersibles. The first DeepFlight submersible was unveiled by Hawkes Ocean Technologies (HOT) in the late 1990s. HOT is now on its fifth generation winged submersible, and sold its most recent vehicles to venture capitalist Tom Perkins and entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson. Additionally, HOT built the world’s deepest submersible, DeepFlight Challenger, for the late adventurer, Steve Fossett, who had planned to dive the sub to a record solo dive of 37,000 feet. HOT is currently the only organization capable of building submersibles to all depths of the oceans.
