Air Uganda - Profile

General Information

Air Uganda uses MD87 twin jet aircraft with 20 business class and 79 economy class seats. The interior has been refurbished with leather seats, giving the client comfort on board and ample leg room. Air Uganda has also recently added to its fleet a CRJ 100 jet that has been in operation since 1st September 2009. The CRJs are 50 seater all economy jets. It operates along side the larger MD 87s. We have the 3 aircrafts at present.Air Uganda is a member of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) and has been in operation since November 2007. We have just celebrated our second year anniversary in November 2009.

Air Uganda is part of the Meridiana group that is based in Olbia - Costa Esmeralda Airport, Italy. Meridiana was founded as Alisarda in 1963 by the Aga Khan as an air-taxi and charter operator to promote tourism to Sardinia. Scheduled services began in 1964 from Olbia. The name Meridiana was adopted in May 1991. The first international services were operated later in 1991 to Barcelona, Paris, London and Frankfurt. Air Uganda is also a member of Celestair Group, with sister airlines in West Africa, Air Burkina , Air Mali, and in Europe, Meridiana and Eurofly.
